Project: Online Computing
Objectives
To develop an online simulation portal for TOC (Theory of Computing) models
Description
This project is aimed at developing an online simulation portal
supporting lecturing and teaching of Theory of Computing.
In this subject we deal with different computational models like Turing
Machines, Pushdown Automata and Grammars. The connection between
these machines and our PC is not always easy to be seen. In fact,
Theory of Computing seams to be cumbersome, boring and useless.
Teaching it always has to deal with the fact, that most of the
students dislike it before coming to class and only join, because
it is part of the curriculum.
In first related subprojects we developed a first three dimensional
and more eye-catching Turing Machine and a simulator for an Intel 8085.
Students (Learners) are able to play with these machines, convert and
execute code. We expect the student to increase its ability of
handling these models enormously.
